Music listening

I think that music listening will affect me because everywhere you go there is some type of music playing. Like on the radio and on TV, all of those songs and the music must be licensed. I only use music for videos in this class. Sometimes I listen to Youtube if I get bored at school, but outside of school I usually listen to the radio or watch music videos on GMC, but I never realized how it was to copyright a song or music. In today's world music is in a lot of places which makes the music world even more confusing.

Google Drive Privacy

Google drive privacy policy is similar to Drop box, SkiDrive, and iCloud. All of their policies basically say the same thing that they can use and distribute you information to their companies and others that they work with. Also all of them claim that they will never share your information with anyone outside of their own company or companies, with some exceptions, but they can and will share your information with other companies. If I was using Google Drive or any of the other sites, I wouldn't want strangers looking at my personal information. So if you don't want people to see your personal information then don't put your personal information on the Internet.

Online Bibliography

I used Son of Citation, Easybib, and Workcited4U. Workcited4U was the worst one,you had to type in the information about the book and it didn't look anything like what it was supposed to look like. Easybib looked pretty good to me. Easybib looked similar to Owl of Purdue. Son of Citation I had to type in the information about the book, it was a better citation than WorkCited4U. I liked the Owl of Purdue because it was easy and correct and it tells you how to type the citation.

Pinterest, Live binders, and Evernote

Pinterest sounds like a fun website to join. Pinterest would also be a great website to use for school or just for yourself. Live Binders would be great if someone was doing a school project because you can put all of your information in one place instead of having all of your information spread out. Live Binders is also a lot faster way to find information. Evernote would be a good website to use if someone had an office job because you can take notes from a meeting or something and save it online. Plus on Pinterest and Evernote you can add pictures. On all of these websites would be good for school and for fun.

Virtual Revolution

I liked the video. It was very interesting. I learned some new things about the web. For instance, I didn't know that an 18 year old college guy in his dorm was one of the first guys to put piracy on the web. I also learned that the guy who started the web did it so that way people could communicate and research with other people, today people can do a lot more on the web. People can buy and sell things, check market prices, and a lot more things. I think that in the future everybody will be using the web and the Internet, and that the web and the Internet is going to be used everywhere in the world.

Privacy on the Internet

I think that the companies that use the Internet should have more strict and less confusing privacy contracts. For instance, Facebook's privacy contract has a lot of words in it so not very many people will read it and people won't realize what the privacy contract said until something happens to them. Facebook is not the only one with confusing and long privacy contracts, a lot of companies have them too. If people don't read the privacy contract before they join an organization or a website then they won't know if their privacy is kept private. I think privacy contracts should be short and to the point so that the privacy contracts on the Internet is easier to read and understand.

Google alerts: License Plate Scanner

On Google alerts today, I read about how in Baltimore, Maryland. Police are starting to use license plate scanners to read license plates to help solve crimes. For instance, if the killer’s car crossed paths with police at murder scenes, but didn’t fit descriptions of a suspect vehicle, the plate reader would have remembered. The license plate scanner is a box that sits on the back of the police car and scans license plates and the scanner will remember the license plate. I think this is a good idea and that all police cars should have the license plate scanner on their car so that way there might be less crime. The website I got this story from is: http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2012/03/30/officials-say-new-technology-could-have-saved-lives-in-the-d-c-beltway-attacks/

Google alerts:Technology

Today I was reading about how we have become slaves to the very products that are supposed to make our lives easier. For instance, our phones, laptops, and other devices make it easier to connect with others. But, when ever a phone rings or you get an email or a text message, you feel like you have no choice but to answer it. Our intentions are good, but technology has made it so that we are addicted to it. I don't like what our economy has come to. For instance, I know a lot of people who won't go anywhere without their cellphones or laptops. Here are some questions that will make you think about your technology in your house and how much you depend on it: What would it be like to turn off all technology products in your home for one evening? Does the thought sound wonderful or anxiety provoking?

Digital footprint presentations

I liked all of the presentations, they were very good. I didn't know that it mattered if I had more than one username. I also didn't know that you could loose a job for having a Facebook or other social networks. I don't think it is right for a coach or a teacher to make students give them their usernames and passwords. People should think before they post things on the Internet. People should also make sure that they don't tell anybody their passwords or usernames.

What your digital footprint conveys about you.

Digital Footprints

In the first video, I was not surprised that kids got in trouble for posting pictures and videos on the Internet and that their parents found out about what their kids were doing. In the digital footprint videos, I didn't know that it was so easy to leave a digital footprint or that I was leaving one. I also did not know that it was so easy for people to steal my identity and personal information just by checking my digital footprint. I also found out how to try and prevent people from stealing my personal information.

Google Alerts

On today's Google alert there was an article about how the police used technology to catch a DC cell phone robbery suspect. In the article a teenage girl was walking through the park in the Tenleytown neighborhood of DC when another teen ran by and grabbed the phone out of her hand. The girl was not harmed in the incident. Detectives were able to use tracking technology on the phone to locate the phone and identify a suspect in the case. So if you loose your phone the police can track it and get it back to you.

About the Class

I like the class so far. I learned some ways to increase my computer skills. I learned some ways how to tell if a website is a fraud or not. I learned how to make a blog and i like it. This class is fun and interesting to be in.

Digital Nation

I liked the video, it was very interesting. I didn't know that something simple like the Internet could make such an impact our lives. People in today's world is more technical and more digital than it was a decade ago.Plus I didn't know that you could fly airplanes and shoot bombs just by sitting in a room and flying an airplane that was over 4,000 miles away, it is smart and safe and pretty cool. I think more people should know that spending too much time on the Internet is not good for your health.
